Day Porter Services in Fort Worth & Dallas-Fort Worth

A day porter keeps your building in shape while people are using it. Restrooms get checked and restocked, lobbies and break rooms stay picked up, and spills get cleaned before somebody slips. One of our current contracts runs a three-person day porter rotation all day.

Who this is for

  • Office buildings with a busy lobby and shared restrooms.
  • Multi-tenant buildings where tenants and visitors come and go all day.
  • Medical offices and clinics with full waiting rooms.
  • Government offices and other public buildings with steady foot traffic.
  • Stores, showrooms and dealerships that stay open long hours.
  • Schools during the school day.

Most of these buildings already have a night crew, and the building looks fine at 8 in the morning. The trouble starts around lunch. The restroom runs out of paper towels, there's a trail of dirt from the front door, and somebody's coffee is on the floor by the elevator. A day porter is there to catch that as it happens.

What a day porter does

A day porter is part of your building's day. They work a set round and handle what comes up between rounds.

  • Restrooms. Checked on a schedule. Sinks, counters, mirrors and toilets touched up, trash pulled, floors spot mopped.
  • Supply restocking. Toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap and liners refilled from your supplies before they run out.
  • Lobbies and entries. Entry glass wiped, mats straightened, floors swept or spot mopped, trash picked up.
  • Break rooms. Counters, tables and the sink wiped, spills cleaned, trash and recycling emptied before they overflow.
  • Touch points. Door handles, push plates, elevator buttons, rails and light switches wiped and disinfected through the day.
  • Spills. Cleaned right away, with a wet floor sign out until the floor is dry.
  • Conference rooms. Tables wiped and trash taken out between meetings, if that's in your scope.

How a rotation works in a bigger building

One of our current contracts runs a three-person day porter rotation all day. The porters clean, wipe down and disinfect as the building gets used, so it looks as good late in the afternoon as it did first thing in the morning. We don't name our clients, but that's the kind of setup we can staff.

With more than one porter, the building usually gets split into zones, like floors or wings. Each zone has its own round, so every restroom gets checked on a regular schedule and someone is always close to the front entrance. Breaks can be staggered so the busy areas aren't left alone for long.

A smaller building doesn't need that. Sometimes one porter during your busiest hours is plenty. We'll tell you what we think your building needs after we've seen it busy.

Supply restocking

Running out of toilet paper is the complaint nobody forgets. You supply the paper goods, hand soap and trash liners, and we refill them. Show us the supply closet and tell us what you normally keep on hand.

If you don't need a full-time porter, restocking can still happen during the day. We can add a short midday restroom visit, or fold restocking into your regular janitorial service.

Day porter or night crew

In most buildings a day porter doesn't replace night cleaning. Tim Poskin, who runs the consulting arm of ISSA, the cleaning industry's trade group, describes the day porter in a CMM article as a complement to the night crew, not a replacement.

The split makes sense once you think about noise and wet floors. Vacuuming whole floors, wet mopping and full top-to-bottom restroom cleaning are hard to do with people around. The night crew handles those. The porter keeps things presentable in between.

Most of our commercial work is evening janitorial service. A porter covers the hours the night crew can't. If you're trying to decide between the two, our guide on day porter vs. night janitorial walks through it.

Restrooms usually decide it

A restroom that looks bad by 2 PM tells visitors something about the whole business. In Bradley Corp.'s 2026 survey of 1,020 U.S. adults, 73 percent said an unclean or unpleasant restroom makes them think twice about coming back.

CDC's guidance for buildings says high-traffic areas may need cleaning more often, and it lists door handles, stair rails, elevator buttons and restroom fixtures among the surfaces people touch most. A porter's rounds are built around exactly those spots.

Spills and wet floors

OSHA's rule for workplaces says walking surfaces must be kept free of hazards like spills, and floors kept dry as far as possible. Keeping floors safe is the employer's duty, and a porter helps you keep up with it during the day. When something spills, the porter puts a wet floor sign out, cleans it up and leaves the sign until the floor is dry.

Working around your people

A porter works while your staff and customers are there, so the job is half cleaning and half staying out of the way. Carts stay out of hallways and doorways. Loud work, like vacuuming a whole floor, waits for the night crew unless you ask for it. Our staff wear ID on the job, and the porter follows your building's check-in and badge rules. If a room is in use, the porter skips it and comes back on the next round.

How we start

  1. Walkthrough during business hours. We come when the building is busy, so we can see where people walk, which restrooms get the most use and when things start to slip.
  2. Written scope. The rounds, how often each area gets checked, what gets restocked, where the supplies are kept and who can give the porter tasks during the day.
  3. Hours and staffing. The hours you need covered and how many porters it takes. Check-in steps, parking and building rules go in writing.
  4. Start, with one number to call. We start on the agreed day. After that, our managers do site checks, and you have one number to call or text when something needs fixing.

What changes the cost

  • Hours of coverage each day, and how many days a week.
  • How many porters the building needs.
  • Number of restrooms and floors.
  • How many people come through.
  • Whether night janitorial is part of the same agreement.

We don't post prices. After the walkthrough you get a written quote with the day tasks listed separately from any night tasks, so you can see what each one covers. Our cost guide explains what drives the price.

Why V&V

We're a family business that has cleaned around Dallas-Fort Worth since 2009. We carry general liability and workers' comp, and we send a certificate of insurance by the next business day. We train our crews, our staff wear ID on the job, and our managers do site checks. We use eco-friendly products, and we speak English and Spanish.

Where we work

We cover all of DFW. Most of our work is around Fort Worth, Burleson and Johnson County, and we're glad to talk about buildings farther out. See all cities.

How we keep your building consistent

Cleaning usually goes wrong when the work slips after the first month. This is how we keep it from slipping.

  • A written scope

Before the first night we write down every area, every task and how often. The crew works from that list, and so do you when you check the work.

  • One person to call

You get one contact at V&V for scheduling, changes and problems. In English or Spanish.

  • A set schedule

Same days, same time window. If a holiday or a building event moves things, we work it out with you ahead of time.

  • Problems get handled

Tell your contact what was missed. We go over it with the crew, update the checklist and look at that spot on the next visit.

  • Manager site checks

Our managers do site checks and look at the work in person.

Day Porter Services questions

What does a day porter do?

A day porter works in your building during business hours. They check and clean restrooms, refill paper goods and soap from your supplies, keep lobbies, entries and break rooms picked up, wipe the things people touch most and clean up spills. The exact rounds go in your written scope.

Do we still need night cleaning if we have a day porter?

Usually, yes. Vacuuming whole floors, wet mopping and full restroom cleaning work best when the building is empty. Most buildings keep a night crew and add a porter for the daytime. We'll help you split the list so nothing gets done twice or skipped.

How many porters does a building need?

It depends on the size of the building, how many people come through and how many restrooms you have. A small building might only need help for part of the day. One of our current contracts runs a three-person rotation all day. We'll suggest a number after the walkthrough.

Who supplies the paper goods and soap?

You do, and we keep them stocked. Show us where the supply closet is and what you keep on hand, and the porter refills restrooms and break rooms on each round. Tell us who should hear about it when stock gets low.

Can the porter help with other things during the day?

Small requests, yes, if they're in the scope. A porter can wipe down a conference room between meetings or clean up after a catered lunch. We write down who can hand the porter tasks, so the restrooms don't get skipped while someone moves chairs.

Do you require a contract?

Details vary, but we generally require a contract term, since a lot goes into setting up a building's cleaning plan. The hours, the rounds and the price are all in writing before you sign.

Hablan español?

Sí. We speak English and Spanish, so your staff can talk with our crew in whichever language is easier.
